I appreciate all the thoughts and suggestions.
Because I have to run the furnace to stay warm, the liquid butter is now a somewhat dry gooey crumbly substance. Shop vac won't touch it.
I got in there the evening of the day it happened and wiped out some with a paper towel. But even then it was sticking well to the ducts.
The ducts are rectangular tubes formed from galvanized sheet metal. Being a 97, they still did it that way I guess.
Removing the ducts will be a very difficult task, as they are right close to the floor. I would have to tear open the underbelly skin and pull out the insulation to get at them. Then there is my frame cross members to deal with too.
Big can of worms to get the ducts out.
I have been working long hours so no time to feed a hot wet rag through there to try and wipe it up. After work I want to make dinner, park my butt a bit and catch my breath. Next thing I know it is bed time. Maybe on Sunday I can do it but no time now.
Can't smell it anymore though - I guess thats a good thing.
