power tongue jack

I have read different posts, and have seen various answers, but my question is... I would like to purchase a power tongue jack for my TT. This may be irrelevant but the TT is 35' with a dry weight of 7873 lbs. The hitch weight is low, like 650lbs. The GVWR is 10810 lbs. I tow with a 2014 2500 Ram Cummins. Do I just consider my hitch weight to determine what size jack to purchase ie. 3,000 or 3,500? I know I need to be able to take weight off of the truck axle when hitching WD bars, but how much does that effect which size jack to install? As always thanks for the help!

Our trailer came with a 3500 Atwood and it seems to work fine. I can't compare it to others as it's the only power jack I've owned.

Got it here, although I now see that shipping may be delayed.

    JACK QUICK

This is the jack that came with our trailer and two of the gear teeth recently broke off under normal usage.

The jack was replaced under the $125 second-year Forest River warranty and they replaced it with a 4,500 pound Husky:

  • I just installed one of these http://www.amazon.com/Husky-87641-Electric-Wireless-Remote/dp/B0063ZBXZC/ref=sr_1_17?ie=UTF8&qid=1428534215&sr=8-17&keywords=rv+power+jack on my Timber Ridge 260RLS. Can't get over how quiet it runs. Having the remotes will allow DW to handle this job while I do something else.

    JACK QUICK

  • Get at least a 3500# jack as it will be used to lift the rear of the truck as well as the weight of the trailer tongue when installing WD bars. Some will say this brand or that brand but any of the major brands will give satisfactory performance and all of them are very customer oriented to any problem you may have. In reality any jack that will raise or lower the tongue reliably is a good jack.
  • My trailer is very similar and I have an Atwood 3500lb jack which works very well and has done so for the past 10 years. It should be just about perfect for your trailer and use.
If I were to replace mine now, I would get this one.
