We are experiencing high pressure at the campground we always stay at. I do not know if it is something they just did recently, or it is just because the campground is still pretty empty.Anyway, I had a leak on the trailer supply line, then on the shut off valve to washing machine, then the shower head, etc. So I put in my standard issue brass pressure reducer, and now the shower pressure is adequate, but just barely.Any suggestions as to what I should buy. I am not particularly price sensitive. I just want something where I can dial in some middle ground.

Go to Home Depot or Lowes Hardware and check out a Watts pressure reducer. There are several models and most will be for a stick and brick application so you might have to purchase brass adapters with hose threads. Been using mine for years.

First of all those brass reducers fail more than you think. AND yours could also just be plugged up. I only get a few months of use of those cheap brass ones before I have to buy another one. They either plum stop working or get clogged up and reduce the water pressure to a trickle. I quit buying the brass ones and I am having better luck with the plastic regulator. Go figure.They make a real nice inline rv regulator that shows the pressure and you can dial it in. An alternative is to find the pressure your rv is designed to handle (probably 60 psi) and purchase a pressure regulator set for that pleasure. Not likely you would ever want to reduce pressure below the maximum the rv is designed for. Many low cost units are designed for only 40 psi so all rvs can use them.

I could not find the Watts locally where we are currently staying.

I ordered a Valterra from the nearest RV shop and paid full retail price right out of the catalog. He will have it in one day.

Sometimes it is just not worth the time and fuel to chase down a better deal. I guess I only have myself to blame for not taking care of this before we got on the road.

We use the brass watts regulator with the gauge. It works well.

I've used the simple brass pressure reducers for 12 years without a problem. Yep, the pressure is a little low but adequate.

I have a very simple solution to this type of problem. I never leave the water turned on, I fill my fresh water tank to the level I want for the time I will be in the CG and then use the water pump for all water needs. This eliminates any potential issues with water pressure. It also ensures that I will never have an incident of a blown water line and a flooded coach if the pressure is to high.

Two thumbs up for the RV Water Filter Store mentioned earlier. We bought one and I always use it. Sometimes even in-line with the second, Camping World brass pressure regulator. Never had an issue using it this way, and I like being able to adjust the pressure manually.

if you are talking about middle ground for cost, there really is none. either you can buy cheap junk at walmart for $9.99 or a decent watts one.

I don't care where I'm at I always install a pressure regulator before I turn the water on just too be safe. I've been using the same brass one for about 5 yrs. now and have never had too clean it out and I'm not losing any pressure. I wonder why some people are having too?

We use a Watts adjustable (can set the pressure you want) brass reducer. We always use it no matter what. Pressure in the water system can fluctuate, so it may look or seem okay when you hook up but then spike at another time. Always use one.

I checked out both Home Depot and Lowe's websites. They handle Watts regulators, only not the ones with the gauge. But now that I know exactly what I am looking for it won't be a problem

Ditto on the Watts. I went to their web site and got a adjustable regulator with the gauge.
