Obviously those of us who have had close calls will be biased. It's to be expected that when you pull a norcold out and you see charred wood and heat shield bin the cabinet the decision to replace with a residential gets easier. Our Norcold lasted somewhere around 8 years and did an "OK" job...I guess...but nothing compared to what our residential does. For some there are valid reasons to stay with a propane unit. I get that. But for many, with the advent of inexpensive solar power and the low low power consumption of modern refrigerators the residential makes more and more sense as an RV fridge. We are avid dry campers and our residential has not impeded our adventures. Having said all that everyone's needs and configurations are different.
