Pro Pride question

I have the 3P hitch, and love it. But currently my trailer is in for service and the shop has no way to move it around with the 3P hitch on it. I'm going down tomorrow to move it for them but would like some ideas about what kind of mods I could do so this doesn't happen all the time. Maybe some way to connect a standard ball connector to the front of the hitch?

Thanks
Keith
  • You can temperary remove the yoke or I think you can just loosen it to lower it, and support the yoke so it won't hit the ground, so they can get at the coupling.

I thinking about modifying mine by adding removable coupler to the stinger, will post when I do.
  • Member drfife had an Arrow hitch and made this doo-dad using a receiver tube and a coupler. Leave the stinger in the hitch and then attach this receiver tube with coupler attached.

Many dealers use a forklift with a ball on one of the forks or a dedicated tug to move stuff around the lot.

Depending on what the dealer is doing for you and how long they are going to have it, you may wind up making several trips to move the trailer around for them. Other option is to remove the 3P when you drop it off.

My solution to the problem is to do all my own servicing and never take it back to the dealer.....
  • 10 million trailers use a ball.
    Why make life more complicated???

take it back to the dealer.....
I don't think that method will work for the PP hitch.

The HA can be locked to prevent translation/rotation of the lower part of the hitch.
I don't know if that can be done with the PP.

See the last photo in this post. Note drfife's screwdriver locking device.

  • That looks like a good idea but I was worried about the hitch head pivot. Hadn't checked to see if there was anyway of locking it in place, like the screwdriver, so guess I'll have to check.
