I might have fallen for it except for his offereing $20 extra and his having his mover pick up the base plate. I didn't go for it.
Haha I got exactly the same worded email when selling my 2 ton engine cherry picker hoist,,I was living in Nova Scotia at the time and someone from Colorado wanted to buy it..
I told him cash only,call me when you're in town,,never heard from him again..

anytime someone uses the word "item" referring to whatever you're selling is a instant red flag warning...I reply with; I do not sell items"
