Problem seeing who's behind me while towing a TT

I know, weird right?
Agree w burningman, sometimes I CARE who or what is on my 6 and other times I don't.
Never had a camera on the back of a trailer. Don't see the need unless maybe for backing around a corner in the dark w no spotter.
Off topic though. OP just needs some tow mirrors.

I've been a professional driver for 30 years, so...

One aspect of my driving any vehicle is keeping an eye on whats going on behind me. I'm not talking about the blind area directly behind my 5er, but behind me down the road. I feel it's important to know what may be coming up on me, especially if it's an emergency vehicle coming up fast. I have seen quite often where a driver is completely oblivious to an emergency vehicle on his a$$ trying to get by.

A rear camera doesn't replace proper mirrors, but I can't see why it wouldn't be nice to have. Heck I've considered it just for my empty pickup because I have a short driveway and have to park about 1" from my house.

If you're really worried about tailgaters, maybe you should attach a cow catcher to the back of your vehicle? I'm sure it would look quite normal at the annual Burning Man event.

I have to agree with the above. If the person behind you cannot stop in time while you are towing something, they are at fault. Although their reason may be distracted driving, following too close for conditions (weather or speed) or vehicle mechanical issues, that is no reason for you not to avoid the hazard ahead.

If that is how you feel, you are giving a perfect example of how a camera can be distracting.
Your braking should be determined by what's in front of you not what's behind you.
If you have to make a real critical maneuver or emergency stop what's behind you is not an issue. Especially if your towing.
At the point that you stop paying attention to what's in front of you, for fear of the what if's are behind you, the camera has become a distracting liability.

I am in this camp there is no need to see what is directly behind you unless you are backing up. Get a good set of mirrors preferably factory tow mirrors vs. some sort of add on and be sure you can see down both sides.

As a famous driver once said. What is behind me, is NOT important. But I do care what is beside me, and my mirrors on my truck will let me see all I need to see. I have the fitted tow mirrors, but have noticed with this truck. I don't need them

OK, not towing, Have you ever had to lay hard on the brakes for something then glanced in the mirror and seen someone right on your bumper? knowing what is behind you is just as important as what is in front of you! that is why their has been a rear view mirror in cars since the 20`s (it was originally designed for racing so the cars would be faster without a spotter looking behind them).

Don't matter what's back there. If I need to stop I do. They will just have to miss me. Sides. I can't do anything about them back there anyway
