Progressive RV Insurance and Windshields

Yes, the Farmers commercial definitely came to mind.

Has anyone had experience with getting your windshield replaced by them? Do they try to weasel out of covering?

Sounds like you should have Farmers. Aren't they the ones that cover all the unusual things that happen?

I had read a blog where two people felt screwed by Progressive so I needed some reassurance.

Our coach is registered and insured in NY State, and our Progressive glass coverage has no deductible. We had one side of the windshield replaced in our previous coach while we were in Georgia, and it was about as hassle free as it can get. Other than when we upgraded to a newer coach, our annual rate has never gone up more than $20. And even went down $9 one year...

The only thing that comes to my mind is that annoying commercial and it tagline - "Safelite Repair, Safelite Replace"

X-2, I don't have Progressive but I've had several windshields replaced, Never been questioned on How it happened. ;)

I called the local glass place that has done motorhomes before. The called progressive and then progressive called me. Progressive sent the glass to the local shop here and they came to our house and installed it. That was 3 years ago and our insurance did not go up.

For comp. coverage portion and glass, it shouldn't matter how it happened.

only way your going to know is call them.

While I don’t have Progressive, my insurance agent told me that the insurance company very much wants you to be able to SEE where you are going, so they will gladly pay for a windshield in prference to paying for the accident. I have called the insurance agency several times now to replace windshields broken by flying rocks. Each time I’ve said only that I had a broken windshield and it needs replaced. Then I shut up, stopped talking, and let them talk. Each time they have asked just one question: “does it interfere with you view of the road?” At this point my truthful answer has always been “yes.” And each time the reply has been to give me an authorization number.

Resist the urge to blather on about how it happened. They don’t care and the only thing you could possibly do is talk yourself out of getting coverage. I am aided in Virginia by the state’s annual inspection, which automatically fails any car that rolls in with a broken windshield. THEY also want you to see the road ahead.
