My thoughts exactly.
I leave mine ON. - rhagfoExplorer IIIWhile most of our trips don't require fueling with the 5er attached. Not sure what I would do?
I can simply kill the frige with the 12 volt disco switch. That said the flame is more than 25' from the pump, and US building code only requires that a gas HW heater be 18" above the floor in a garage. Well my frige is about 4' above the ground. so ignition is far less likely. - dksExplorerI turn my propane off, doesn't seem safe to have an open flame around fuel pumps. That's why they have no smoking signs and tell you watch for static electricity with cell phones.
- fla-gypsyExplorerI run my fridge on LP when travelling, that is what it is designed to do. You should follow the local ordinances/state law requirements for refueling and ignition sources.
- steveh27ExplorerI never drive with the propane on, I feel that is too dangerous if an accident occurs. My fridge is a 3 way so I drive with it in 12 volt mode.
- Mr_BeeboExplorerNo, I don't turn it off.
- 2012ColemanExplorer IIOh - here we go again...
- PadlinExplorerOkay, thanks. I can do a search.
- down_homeExplorer IIOnly time it is cut off is in storage, inside, and when we get on board propane tank refilled.

Propane cylinder valved in...fridge in 'auto' so it swaps to gas when I disconnect AC Power. Fridge has been ON for over 7yrs.
I don't turn it off when fueling up.
30+ years of operating boilers I am comfortable with the operation of having propane on.....even when I am refueling for a lot of reasons.
Lot of debate about pros/cons......do what you are comfortable with.
Bingo, except mine gets turned off between trips
