regular here is 3.39 a gal.,and the 100% gas is 4.00,so not a big difference, plus I like it in my Hot Rods, and all nice and close!(By the way,I don't care about tree huggers, drilling or climate change so don't waste your breath)
Well... I will do the tree hugger thing but I may surprise you.. You see, I do my research.
From the best info I can find you get perhaps 10% more from pure gasoline, so 3.39 plus .339 (Call it .34) is is 3.73 That would be the break even price on No-Booze gas. Of course this does not count fuel system/engine damage prevented so you may well be getting the better deal.
now the tree bit: The "Official" line of ... stuff.. is that by adding Alcohol to the gas we are saving on oil needs.. The facts as best I can determine is that by the time we factor in the fuel to prepare the ground for planting, put the seed in the ground, ferterlize it (It's made from petroleum in many cases) Control weeds, Harvest, transport, ferment and distill the corn into alcohol.
We have burned more oil than we save.
So the tree huggers ... Have it backwards (not at all uncommon) and are actually making things worse.
Does alcohol contribute to cleaner air.. That one can be argued, On this I have not done research but my personal opinion is that it does not.
Now E-01 ir E-02.. In the winter.. In Michigan (And other states like it) is a good idea.. That is just enough alcohol to prevent gas line freezup (Think one pint per 20 gallons) I have had Gas line freezup as have some others I know of,, and just a little Alcohol in the tank made a 100% improvement in the problem.
My daughter's godfather used to laugh at me for paying more for Standard/Amoco (now BP) gas than he paid for a "generic" off brand.... Till I towed his vanagan to the shop so the mechanic could put in a new fuel pump.. Seems the old one got drown in water and broke when it froze.
That, of course, has nothing to do with hugging trees.
