They really don't like us.
You buy property in Canada or Ontario anyway Americans have to pay an additional 20% tax, unless it has been repealed.
Americans can not get the mineral rights or water rights if they purchase either on Crown land.
At the time we were serious about buying, on Superior, I didn't find the additional tax and restrictions on Europeans.
You use to have to stay in Canada a minimum number, of days and produce receipts where you bought so much in groceries and provisions, and of course fees for your guns and you had to buy ammo, too, I believe up there, and of course you had to have a paid Guide to hunt there.
There is a segment that wants to keep Americans out.
I ate lunch with a Mayor of a small village, up there in the seventies.
They had the idea that Americans owed them and that we had somehow cheat them.
We should pay more when we came up there. I don't remember all the conversation, from so long ago.
Not all Canadians are like that. We spent many enjoyable holidays up there. And we still have some contact information for Folks that we haven't talked with in years.
