When I first saw this post I was thinking, this post will get deleted, this person is selling something. But I see now it is sincere. Years ago we accomplished an huge feat paying off our mortgage 10 years early, and then I became responsible for paying my own taxes, so fearing I wouldn't have enough in savings twice a year I set up my own escrow account be creating a separate savings account and using automatic deposit from my pay check. Now We also have a travel account separate from the escrow and regular savings, also automatically funded with a set amount from each pay check.
I know it's all the same, but for me it helps to have these separate "pots" of money even though they are at the same credit union, and it is so nice to go on vacation, put it all on a credit card as we travel, then log into bill pay and just pay the balance all at once from the travel account.
I know people who have significant savings don't have to worry about such things, but whatever the crutch a person uses to accomplish savings is a good thing. All the best with your savings, Hans
