Pull battery for winter?

Up by Fairbanks I've had batteries last eight years and they sat in the rig every winter down to -60. If you don't have battery disconnect switch that kills absolutely EVERYTHING, then disconnect the battery cables and they should be fine.

If you have a good battery no need to have any type of charging system. With a disconnect switch battery will hold a charge a long time. Mine is a complete disco totally isolates the battery.

Yep, our stays in all winter have a disco switch, off is off! Rig can sit three months and during that time might run the slider in and out a couple times, still have a decent charge.
We are going out this weekend and have a planed trip over New Years.

Different strokes for different folks. It doesn't matter if they are in the RV or a shed/garage.
The end result is, the batteries are charged and won't freeze.

So, when you winterize do you use air, pink stuff or both? :B

I have a marine multi stage charger that I hook directly to the battery.

I trckle charge maybe once a month. Never know when a power outage will cause need so leave mine in. Also camping in a few weeks

'Can a battery freeze?
The only way that a battery can freeze is if it is left in a state of partial or complete discharged. As the state of charge in a battery decreases, the electrolyte becomes more like water and the freezing temperature increases. The freezing temperature of the electrolyte in a fully charged battery is -92.0oF. At a 40% state of charge, electrolyte will freeze if the temperature reaches approximately 16.0oF."

I leave them in the trailer fully charged and disconnected from any load.

I store my trailer away from home, so I do pull them and bring them home, put them in a shed and keep a trickle charger on them. We do not get prolonged freezing here like Nebraska does, But would try to protect them from freezing.
