THERE IS NO NOZZLE COLOR STANDARD IN THE U S. If you insist on going by nozzle color, you can count on getting a tank full of the wrong stuff. The VW TDI forums are full of folks who grabbed the green handle, filled up, drove home, and now are whining about the cost of repairs, having discovered their receipt says they bought RUG.
It's true BP stations OFTEN have green nozzles for diesel. But sometimes they don't. I have seen black, yellow, orange, as well as green nozzles (even at BP stations). Don't go by color. Read. The. F'ing. Sign!
My experience as well not only at BP, but other stations. do NOT EVER TRUST THE NOZZLE COLOR. Green is common for diesel, but I have seen green on gas as well.
