Question about awning over slide on door side of camper

We have a TT with a kitchen slide. This was one of our initial concerns but the benefit of the slide FAR outweighs the little lose in space under the awning. I am not a big awning fan anyways. I will put it out in rain (not if very windy) or if the sun is beating on the side of the camper. Typically I put it in at night as I hate the bugs that paste on the underside due to the LED light strip under the awning rail.

Best thing to know is length of awning. Ours is probably 18-19' long. Covers the door, slide and goes up to the outdoor kitchen door. We love the set up.

Here's a contrary thought - Part of the value we place our Awning is for the shade it provides to the side of our TT (to help manage how much heat seeps in during the day). So the type of awning arrangement you've described could still provide some benefit.

Still, I see the fivers with big curb-side slide rooms, and they typically restrict their awning to the area in front of the slide.

IMO, all curb-side slides have the potential to steal from your usable outdoor CG space.

Most awnings open to about 8ft. deep. Depending on the depth of the slide out, you could have 3-5 feet of usable area. Then you have to figure the length of the slide. Will it take most of the length of the awning? Will a "Curb side" slide be worth carrying a portable sunshade?

This one of our irritations with our Fuzion 383. We aren't really people who sit outside under the awning very much. However, the awning on our 383 is pretty useless since, like you said, it covers mostly the slide between the exterior doors, with about 5 feet of space that you could actually sit under in front of the slide. Basically a really big slide topper. :)

We didn't pay much attention to the awning when we bought our toyhauler, but like I said we really don't sit outside much. If you wanted to use the awning then you'd be very, very unhappy with it. If you're looking at one like this make sure you have them extend the awning when the slides are out so you can check the space. It's very likely you'll be unhappy with the results if you plan on using your awning very much.
