We also do and do not make reservations. On our summer trip to Alaska, we made only a couple of reservations but this winter, we have most of our winter planned out,. We make the reservations because we will be staying in some pretty popular military campgrounds. Without reservations, we would be without a site. We find over time that we are more and more flexible but we always plan where we want to be at the end of the day and how long we travel and even have an idea of which camoground we want to stop at but no reservation. For us, a long day of travel is around 300 miles.
