Reservations 98% of the time, and always for two or more nights. Being retired, we're never in a hurry. On a travel day, 200 miles is a long day. A leisure departure (mid morning), get in and set up well before dinner. But, if there is something we choose to stop and see enroute, no problem as we have a reservation. And, because we typically travel less than 200 miles, making up time isn't an issue. Also, having a reservation completely eliminates having to even think about where to stop, will there be a good site, etc. Planning ahead, we can pick locationswe know we'll enjoy. We like State Parks, National Parks, National Forrest campgrounds, many of which can fill up; but with a reservation we never worry. Our normal trip is planned several months in advance. When the time comes, all we have to do is leave and enjoy with no pressure on finding a place to stay.
