question on cancelling a site on reserve america

I have a site reserved for 2 weeks at a very popular campground. I'm going to cancel one of the weeks and I have a friend who wants to pick up that week once I cancel it. How do I do this to ensure that my friend gets it once I cancel it. Can the reserve america agent do all of this over the phone without it even going back on the web as available? My friend will be at my house with me when I call in and cancel. I want to make sure that no one else jumps in and takes it. How's the best way to do this? Thanks.
  • with reserve america do you pay them or the campground? seems to me you could just do this by contacting the campground?
    bumpy
  • It may be good to ask them, but on the many times I have used Reserve America and checked in I have never had to produce ID,just the printed copy of the reservation #
  • I do not see what is wrong with effectively sub-leasing the site.

I have a 12 month lease on a site. Based on what I know today, I will not be renewing my lease.

There are four people who have expressed an interest in this site if I ever gave it up. Two of the people are my current neighbors and friends. You know I will give them first crack at it when the time comes. That's what friends are for.
  • If allowed, I see no problem with your friend taking your second week. Call and check with Reserve America.
  • It would be wrong first and shouldn’t be allowed ever… and all guest must be registered so you couldn’t just allow your friend to pay you (or not pay you) and use the site…

It has been a long standing problem of people reserving sites without even knowing if they are going there… cancelation fees are meant to solve that…

If this were allowed to would end up being a deal where you would have to buy your sites at popular places from reservation scalpers…

I would be against even asking and angry if they accommodated such things…
  • I would have my friend sitting next to me when I called Reserve America. It could be gone to someone else in the blink of an eye.

Maybe they would be cool with your friend just showing up in your place and making the change at that time.

One thing for sure, you do not want to be charged a "no show" penalty.

You might be able to call the reservation number and get them to change the name on the reservation.

    Thats the best answer.
  • I don't know if you can take another person's reservation. What if you have to produce id to match the reservation name?
You might be able to call the reservation number and get them to change the name on the reservation.
  • The best way is not to cancel it. You will have to pay a fee, and I pretty sure there will be a delay of a few days between the cancel and the site becoming available again on the system.

Let your friend just pay you. When he gets there he can change the name on the site information at the gate.
