I have set of Michelin LTX M/S LT tires ordered for my 2013 f150 cc.
I have been reviewing some previous post and I keep seeing some folks mentioning a 70,000 mile or 60,000 mile warranty on these tires.
From what I can find the LTX M/S LT tires have a 50,000 warranty. This is the tire with 3415 lb capacity and 80 psi. The Michelin site says 70,000 miles warranty @ speed rating T and H, 50,000 miles @ speed rating R. Best I can tell R rating is for LT use. What am I missing or am I just over thinking this. Is this the same tire just rated differently depending on use? No tire expert here.
I don't want or need an all terrain tire so it looks like the Defender LTX M/S LT is what I want, at least I think so.
Our son just replaced the LTX that were on his (my old) duramax with LTX. the OLD ones had a 70K mile warranty. the new ones, same rating, same size etc. etc. is 50K. He was told michelin changed the mileage warranty recently.
And since when he has run them, and I have run them, 35K is the most we ever got out of a set I can see why they have changed the warranty.
Needless to say, since discount tire honors the warranty very well, each set was not costing us much since we were getting around 50 percent credit on the new set.
I did try some toyo's at one time, same result, 30-35K miles, and similar on the OEM Goodyears, so I don't think the Michelins are any better or worse than others for mileage. But the did handle well and have good traction and quite ride.
