Question re: post-total hip replacement surgery

I'm trying to help a friend who lives in another state and can't get out to shop. She's had total hip replacement on one side, (much younger than usual, for birth defect) and was suggested by a nurse...

Thanks, all. I will pass along your suggestions. She does have a PT tech who comes to the house. This is rural and options are limited. She is pleased with the surgery, but has a long way to go and will need the other hip done later.
