Quick hitch receiver slop fix

Just towed the boat behind the camper which requires a hitch extension.
The slop from receiver to extension and extension to hitch results in the hitch dropping a couple inches and banging over bumps.
I tried a quick fix, shoved a fender washer under the shank in both connections.
Worked great and the washers didn't fall out after almost 1000miles of towing.

  • Fun.

Wonder if you couple that with a u-bolt fix if it would keep it from sagging and keep quite. I just have the u-bolt and love it, but it still sags, so maybe Ill try a shim.

Also, check that your hitch is tighter on the ball. Put a loose ball in the trailer hitch, close and see how much play there is. Tighten the nut underneath to where it is snug, but not binding.
  • ^That would guarantee the shim stayed in.
Little noise doesn’t bother me cause I’m used to towing pintle hitches, but yes that’s a great suggestion.
