- Chuck_thehammerExplorergo by the factory manual.. if towing, twice as often.
most transmission filters are crud catchers , not filters. - RoyFExplorerYes, I change trans. fluid at the recommended interval. I suppose that it's 30,000 miles. I know that 2008 Ford F350 trany fluid has been changed twice with 85,000 now on the odometer. Hope to still be using the vehicle at 200,000 miles.
Correction: That was wrong -- just looked at the truck service record. Only one change and that was at 60,000 miles. - BB_TXNomadDepends on the transmission. Some of the Ford transmissions specify changing the fluid at 30K. Others much higher. Have your Ford dealer check what transmission you have and see what is specified for it.
Took the DW's 2008 Expedition in and told them to do the 30K service as specified in the manual. They flushed and changed the transmission fluid. Found out later that fluid change was not required on that transmission until much higher mileage. Again, some are 30K, some are higher. Service manager and I had a few words over that one. Did not get a full refund but did get significant discount on next service visit.
