going to head to Niagara falls....... daughter lost her passport about a year ago- Is there an easy way to get another? It's confusing. Can I just re-apply for another? I see a lot of websites but I am not sure they can be trusted- I know I will have to pay more but at this point I just need to get one.

Fill out the application, carry it with a photo to the post office. If necessary, pay for the expedited service. Those web sites won't speed things up. They actually slow things down because the paperwork has to pass through more hands.

I would think a lost one being replaced would go quickly. I have never tried the expedited ones. I have always used the official government web site. The one time I had to renew in a hurry, I used the expedited service and it only took 10 days even though I was expecting it to take 20 days, but my background isn't unusual in any respect. If you need it in less than 2 weeks, you can also go to one of the passport offices. Will still cost the expedited fee and you have to have additional paperwork, but you will get it a little quicker than having it expedited.We had to get new passport cards for the kids this spring and it took about 5 weeks non-expedited.
