Maybe the wife is just tired of doing so much. If she does all the cooking, cleaning, laundry, without help, maybe she's just had enough. She's not stopping the OP from going, she's just saying, he can go alone without her. Sorry, I may be wrong here, but sounds to me she's just tired of doing so much for you. You need to be independent. Do your own laundry,fix your own meals, do your own grocery shopping.... I think, that's what she's really telling you. The relationship is one-sided, (his way)... because he needs her, but she doesn't need him. In a good relationship, both need each other, and both are willing to give to the other 100%.
