Mine is electric and also self-tilting. But I don't like the "self tilt" because after the weight of the water dumps, the awning flings back up with a ker-whap! Scares the daylights out of us every time it does that.
We found tilting one end and tightening down the arms works very nice. No ker-whap and drains good.
Tighten both arm screws and it takes a lot of wind to make it fluff. So, we've learned the awning can stay out with rain, even extremely heavy rain. But no matter how we try it, it doesn't do nice in wind. If it gets windy, we roll it up.
It's taken 5 years of ownership with my electric awning, but if given the opportunity (on my next camper) to go with a manual one again, I'm pretty sure I'd opt for the electric one again. It took me 5 years to really learn how to use the electric one. Now, I can't imagine going back to manual.
