Rain noise on bedroom slide

My wife finds rain on the bedroom slide-out roof is really noisy; actually the rain isn't too bad but the drops off the trees seems to be quite loud. We're just starting our first season with this new trailer and we're still working out the bugs. Personally I enjoy the rain noise.

I don't have slide toppers, we had one over the bedroom on out previous rv but took it off because of the heavy winds throughout the winters along the coast. We never seem to notice the rain noise as much with our other rv's that had the same insulation.

Other than maybe a slide topper is there anything else that I could do to deaden the noise a little.
  • Try a piece of carpeting on top to deaden the sound see how that goes

Funny, both the wife an I love the rain noise...

Same here. However, my friend had a 2012 Kodiak TT with two slides. When the rain dropped on those slides it made a very annoying and loud tinny sound -- sort of like a snare drum. There's no way I could have lived with that sound. I would have bought slide toppers for sure. The way my friend fixed it was to buy a 2014 Redwood 31SL.

Thanks for the input. I just might have to the slide topper route.

At our seasonal site in the Adirondacks, we have a beautiful white birch with limbs above the camper. At the beach we are in the open so hopefully my wife will just get used to it.

  • Slide topper would be my first thought, but you said you didn't want that.

So, thinking creatively - twin or child size air mattress tied down?
  • I don't think there is anything other than a slide topper that will work for you other than a permanent roof over the slide
