I have been off RV Net for about 3 years after having stopped a 15 yr full timing run. I now live in the Everglades FL area and am thinking of buying a used higher end 28-30' B+ to summer-bird in....
First of all "
WELCOME BACK"!! :C
Good to see you are going to RV again we've missed you here on the forum.
First, why do sellers use consignment?????????
I do because I got tired of all the looky loo's and questionable people coming over to my house and the fact of trying to figure out how to accept payment on higher end units.
The buyer has a hard time (thanks to the patriot act, etc) withdrawing large amounts of cash. Cashiers checks are no longer safe etc.
The dealer ship is better equipped to accept payment AND if the guy doesn't have enough money they can arrange loans. It was a no brainer for me to drop my RV off on consignment.
They sell it, deal with all the people on 'their' lot and send me a check when it sells.
I will add that of course when you 'call' about an RV at a dealership they will try and sell you one of theirs first before the consignment.
That's why as a buyer you need to go down in person so you don't miss a good deal on a consignment.
I did and got a whale of a deal on a consignment that the seller really wanted to sell fast and when I saw it I offered a lower price and got it!
So what am I missing in my search? I'm almost at the point where it just isn't worth the effort.
I was very frustrated when looking also. Narrowing down the search using dealership ads are just a joke. You really have to set aside a day and get in the car and travel to the dealerships.
Don't give up! :C
