Storing 50 amp cord

I do have several dogbones and a good heavy 20 amp extension cord It is amazing the stuff you accumulate after owning a couple of pop-ups and a couple of TT's and then the MH. I am thinking seriously about soft mounting my surge gaurd in the electrical bay so that it's out of the weather and redoing the 50amp cord so that I can coil it up in a container with an end out the bottom to hook it up to the surge gaurd.
Since you folks are having problems plugging your cord in since it's high up,I'd also suggest a short cord that would hang down permanently a bit from the trailer end of the hookup and you wouldn't have reach so high.
