ReadyBrake install on CRV

For anyone who has done their own install of a ReadyBrake on a 2012-14 Honda CRV, did you have any problem finding a good spot to drill the hole in the firewall for the brake cable? The instructions indicate that the CRV has a double-wall firewall and it might be necessary to drill the hole either left or right, instead of directly behind the brake. Any info would be helpful before I start drilling on my 2013.

  • What helped me when drilling the hole was to use a small level from the brake pedal to the firewall. Eyeballing it didn't work for me,the cable came in too low. My first hole was practice. Using a small drill bit an extra hole is NBD.
  • I installed our Ready Brake on an 09 CRV. If I recall correctly you can see the double wall readily and if you do make a mistake it's not terminal. Patch the drill hole and do it over again in the right position. It is a little intimidating but in the end it's very do able.
