ReadyBrute

We finally made a decision on a tow bar and brake system. I called NSA in Inola, KS, and learned they not only make the Readybrake products but also install them at their plant. We ordered a ReadyBrute Elite tow bar (includes the braking system) and made an appointment to have it installed, including the Blue Ox base plate. Will post later how it all turns out.
  • Make sure they install the readystop also. About a $100 upgrade and it'll stop your toad if it separates from the towing vehicle....Dennis

  • Dennis, We also ordered the ReadyStop and will have them install it at the same time. I noticed that you have the ReadyBrute tow bar. Are you happy with its performance?
  • I am not Dennis, but I have been towing with the Ready Brute Elite tow bar/surge brake and the Ready Stop breakaway brake system for 5 years. I am very pleased with it.
  • We had the regular ready brake for several years but just recently went with the ready brute elite, ready stop, blue ox baseplate, and demco wiring kit for the towed. We also purchased the fuse kit which supposedly makes it convenient so you don't have to remove a certain fuse prior to towing. Our fuse kit did not seem to shut off anything when pushing the switch and when I called NSA, the person I talked with had no clue on how it was supposed to work.:R I will be calling back and talking with someone different. One of the critical things about their system is making sure the actual brake cable from the mh to the towed is adjusted CORRECTLY. To tight, will burn you brakes; to loose, brake probably won't be affective.
