Rear Kitchen Questions

We brought our new Denali 293RKS to our new home in Green Caye RV Park in Dickinson, Tx. yesterday. Today, while loading her up, it occurred to me that although a rear kitchen was to our liking, it might not have been the best place for a kitchen because of bouncing while being towed. After all, the kitchen is at the other end of the fulcrum.
Has anyone here with a rear kitchen, experienced any problems while on the road, in the way of pots, pans, dishes, etc. flying out of control?

  • We stuff rolls of paper towel wherever we can. Protects everything and is always handy.
  • Every make rear kitchen is different and you won't know how it will act until you have towed it a ways. We had a Golden Falcon 5er rear kitchen that we towed all over North America, from central Mexico to the Yukon and never had a problem with things falling or doors opening. But, know friends that had nothing but problems with their rear kitchens, different models act different.
  • Too late now....don't worry about it. Load it up, get on down the road and enjoy yourself.

Rear kitchens are a common floor plan. You will learn how to pack stuff to overcome any problems if any. All RV's are a compromise is some way or another.

    Congrats on the new rig.
  • One of our prior TTs was rear kitchen. Did not have a problem but we also used containers for everything including what was in the drawers and cabinets. Used the line of plastic boxes from Sterilite.
  • We have a rear kitchen and did experience cabinets opening and some pots, etc. leaving their shelves. I added shocks to the trailer and that has improved things quite a bit. We still put a hand towel under the round glass tray in the micro and we lay hand towels over the silverware just to make sure they stay in place.
    Good luck!
