Recent NW trip

Bride and I just returned from a 3 week trip in Northwest Washington state. We visited the Boeing factory (very cool), a county camping park west of Port Angeles, the Olympic National park, a state camping park, and a couple Elks Lodges.
Our trip was just great! We're not sure how, but with just two days of light rain, the rest of the time was SUN.
We want to comment on something we noticed; That would be the fact on how clean all the parks and hike trails were. In one camp site, one plastic bottle cap was found, that's it. Animal walkers cleaned up after their pets, trash was nowhere to be found, the restrooms were kept clean by all who used them, and everyone was mindful of their noise.
This is a great country.....

  • Glad to hear you enjoyed your visit here, we just enjoyed four days at Silverwood!
  • The NW is a hidden gem lived here since I was 10. Not nearly as rainy as many spots. Gray yes, rainy no. This spring/summer has been great so far. And yes campgrounds in Wa and OR are pretty clean from what I read on here and never see in real life.
  • We have been in Montana, Idaho, Oregon for the last 4 weeks. Have barely been wet or overly warm. Sure has beat being back home in Indiana. Think hot and humid. Have really enjoyed it out here in the summer so far, but all good things need to come to an end and will about the 15th of July. Gotta go back to work a couple days the last week of July then every day starting the 5th of Aug. till the last Friday before Memorial Day.
  • I have lived in the PNW all my life and you were LUCKY to have had good weather! If anyone wants to come here and be assured of mostly good weather come late July thru late September.

We try to stay away for about 8 months each year.
  • Heh Heh, I was just saying that it was nice to see "clean." California has a lot to offer to all of us. That's why we moved from there, so we could give others room to visit.
    See ya out there
  • California is the place to go if:

    1) You want blue skies instead of grey ones.

    2) You want low humidity summer heat instead of sapping summer heat.

    3) You want Prop 13 to be able to afford to stay in your home in retirement.

    4) You want your home's value you bought years ago to still be way, way up there above what you paid for it.

    5) You want to RV year around.

    6) You want to not RV year around and then store your RV without mold forming inside.

    7) You want to see the world's tallest trees.

We have relatives who try to get by living in wet WA and they love to get away from it all to visit us here in the CA mountains. ... you can have WA and I won't bother you. ;)
  • that is the same thing our governor in Oregon would say about us. Oregon a great place to visit, just don't move here.
  • Sheeee. Keep it a secret. Just keep telling everyone that it ALWAYS is rainy, cold, gray and miserable up here in the NW.

Now, Calif. where we use to live...that's the place to go.
