If you have moved more than once since you started seeing them, my guess, based upon thirty years in the business of pest control, in Florida, is that you have a few stragglers coming out as a result of the move. Florida Carpenter ants HATE vibration. I would not look further on the outside.
I would watch the shower area closely. If they are in the area, that does not necessarily mean there is damage yet. They might have been attracted by the dampness but have not had a chance to get started.
If you buy bait, make sure it is labeled for Carpenter Ants. They are very fussy about accepting baits, and until a few years ago, there were no baits for them available. Follow the label instructions closely for the best results.
Do not smoke while applying any bait. The nicotine will contaminate the bait and render it useless.
All the above information is based solely upon Florida Carpenter ants. Other species and locations may, and do act differently.
