Texas Code Motor Fuel Tax
This is a government document, so it is incredibly long, but after quickly scanning it, a few things stood out:
p20 Sec 162.008 Gives them the right to inspect your premises (home, farm, work parking lot, etc)
p20 Sec 162.009 Authority to Stop and Examine
p21 Sec 162.010 Authority to Impound ans Seizure of your vehicle
p22 Sec 162.011 Authority to sell seized property
It went on to say further in the law that if you can't provide documentation for legal/taxed fuel purchases, then they assume fuel usage to be 1 gallon per 4 miles, so if you have 100K miles on your truck= 25K gal of fuel used @ .20 cents/gal =$5K fine...and this is to start with.
Then you can potentially get the State & Feds involved for tax fraud & tax evasion.
Appears to be a pretty big gamble to take to save a few pennies.
I was bored.....
