Keep on eye on the factory GM hitch also for "windup" when latching up the bars. Had that issue on our '10 Silverado.
I though GM "corrected" the hitch problems after the bout with the failures in the early 2000's.
Let me tell you after pulling the hitch of my soon to be not mine 2006 2500HD and replacing it with a curt, all I can say is WOW. GM muct be counting on the bumper holding some of the weight.
