I'd question why you registered it in WA in the first place when your profile says OR. Like th 9.5% tax?
Personally I wouldn't worry about it. First, it's not that you don't have a registration, it's just expired. Local police won't know about the salvage title for a routine traffic stop, besides even so, you now have an expired registration for "your" camper and a salvage title for it.
ALot of states don't even require title or registration of TC's. However I believe if the camper plate is not required then your truck plate must be visible, so if it's obstructed by the overhang of the camper, slep the truck plate on the camper and take off!
Can't answer if Mexico would care at the border or not, but again, if you have the truck plate visible, you're probably good.
Not to jinx myself, but in the 25 years I have been driving, I've had multitudes of trailers behind the truck (and now a TC this year). Suffice it to say I've been pulled over my fair share of the time and the cop always looks to the vehicle tag, not the trailer.
I just made 2 trips thru Canada this year from my then home state of WA. WA vehicle tags, WA driver's license.
First trip, the trailer had a permanent tag from NM on it. Old tag I threw on after I realized the WA tags had expired.
2nd trip, TC had NO plate since I had just bought it and didnt want to register it in WA (ref 9.5% USE tax!) and the tag from the PO was expired, and the trailer had permanent AZ tags from the prev owner.
6 border stops in all with these 2 scenarios and no hassle from US or CDN border.
Those are my comments.
Advice, don't worry about it.
BTW, WA will want to tax you on the TC again since you "bought" it back.
Screw WA. I'm getting 2 year tags for my vehicles in AK before returning there and already have 6 year tags on my snowmobiles and wheelers. They've gotten enough use tax out of me already to be able to buy a new camper!
Never been fleeced as bad as WA in the 6 other states I've lived in.
