Has anyone installed one of the remote rv door locks on their rv? Are they reliable and what are the down falls? I am looking at one from RV Locks with key pad and fobs.
On the fiver that I just traded in I installed one from RV locks... it worked on and off for half a season... I actually had extra keys made as back ups.. Traded that trailer for a new one , and it has on from Bauer Products... Night and Day difference...

Does the Bauer have remote fobs? - paulcardozaExplorerWe have RVLock on our TH and can't say enough good things about it.
10min to install, another 5min to program and it works flawlessly. worth every penny IMHO. Bob Vaughn wrote:

Does the Bauer have remote fobs?
I do not believe so...- RCMAN46ExplorerI have one of the older RV Locks.
It does have FOB. The couple times I used the FOB it worked. I prefer the near door mounted remote. Do not have carry a ring of keys and FOB' to go swimming etc.
I have a remote unit also that is mounted near the door. The remote mounted next to the will take as many as 5 tries to unlock or lock the door. There have been many times I have been tempted to junk the lock.
But not having to carry a key is nice.
I think the newer ones have the key pad intigral to the lock. If anyone has one I am curious if it requires more than one try to lock or unlock. - paulcardozaExplorerI have the newest version, installed in June. Includes the integral keypad as well as two key fobs.
I have never had to retry any method of locking/unlocking this unit. It works for me first time, every time. The key fobs will lock/unlock within about 20ft of the door.RCMAN46 wrote:

We quit using it. It unprogrammed itself every few months when you least expected it. First time didnt have a key, got locked out.
Now I carry a key and have one hidden outside. - B_O__PlentyExplorer IIFor the $200.00 plus bucks, I can carry a key.
B.O. - dapperdanExplorerOur Suites came with the Bauer keyless entry. We like it BUT as somebody else mentioned we too ended up hiding a key outside just in case. Our Bauer runs on 4 AA batteries and you never know when the batteries are going to die. We do have some indication though, usually the lock starts "acting up", not locking or unlocking and that tells me to get new batteries in it ASAP. Other than that it works flawlessly..
Dan - TakingThe5thExplorerI'm not exactly on topic and for that I apologize but my TV already came with a keyboard entry system and I now keep a set of keys in the cab. I can't say I planned this feature but it has been reliable and useful for use on both the RV and the TV. We very rarely have a circumstance where the TV would not be present.
