Unsure where to post this question. Does anyone have experience renting out their RV? We are looking to store a travel trailer (small and lightweight with good rental potential) but are looking into the possibility of storing it for free with a dealer that rents out RVs. I think he said the rental revenue gets split 50/50 between him and the RV owner. Insurance is included.Other than the wear and tear, does anyone here have experiences / thoughts about renting out their RV?

No experience, but plenty of thoughts.My first thought is I flat don't want anyone I don't know using my RV. Just picky that way I guess.Secondly, I doubt very seriously anyone who rents my RV will take care of it the way I do, then I have to deal with the aftermath.I think after the first or second time it's was rented, I wouldn't want to use it anymore. My RV is three years old this Feb, and it's like brand new. I don't see that happening as a rental.Dealer says they have insurance, but if you are financing the rig, will their insurance cover it if it's totaled? Does the lender have a say in this (Terms and Conditions)?It all sounds good until next spring when you want to use YOUR trailer, and you need to spend money and time to get it back in the condition YOU want it to be.Mike

My biggest issue is not everyone has the same health standards. One of the reasons I have an RV is I know who slept in my bed last night. The other is it's not mine so what if it bounced over that last curb, something got spilled, I burned x on the stove, kids pulled the blind off, dog couldn't hold all night. For me, I'd pay to store.

I have three thoughts:trouble, trouble, and trouble..Not for me for a lot more than 3 reasons.But, if you decide to do it...good luck with it and please post back with a report on how it worked out...

The dealer gets 50% wigh no stake in the game. Your RV, you have to pay to repair, you have to pay maintenance and they make mkney off of you. I need to figure out how to find some suckers to do this.

Just a thought..
Suppose you're done with that trailer, can't get decent money for it.
You park it on some guys lot and split the rental.

Go to any WalMart and try to sit down on the toilet in the bathroom. Can you do it? That's what will happen to your camper. People are pigs, it's just that simple.

Yeah, my ex father-in-law used to have several rental properties. And he had many good experiences, and they were in the majority. But it honestly only takes one bad experience to cancel out all the good ones. Like they say: It only takes one "Oh s--t", to cancel out a whole bunch of "Atta Boys".

I own a few apartments & seeing the way so many people live there is no way I'd rent my RV. My apartments are not furnished like a RV is. If they live like slobs in their fulltime residences imagine how they would treat a short term vacation rental especially if they think they are paying alot of money for it. All the more reason to trash it.

Wouldn't do it!!! Just a really bad idea as RVs are too easily damaged by someone that doesn't know what they are doing and have the "it's a rental" attitude.

Save those keystrokes - no need to post back with the "how it worked out report".

(IMO) 'Cause whether you do - or whether you don't.....nobody but nobody is going to believe any of the positive results you might post - and jump on the rental bandwagon..:S

However, the positive posts in *favor* of renting may be overwhelming the RV Net servers - and the flood gates may open any time now..:W
