Rental cars

Hi all,

We don't tow a car when we travel, and usually do fine without one. Our next trip to Florida, however, might find us staying in one place for several weeks, and we'd like to rent a car. Daily rentals would be very expensive. Can anybody recommend an agency that does inexpensive weekly or monthly rentals?

Thanks.
  • We use Enterprise. They almost always have the lowest weekly rates, and best of all they are everywhere. If you use Expedia or Priceline, be sure to check the company website as well - they are sometimes actually cheaper. Just did a quick check and you can get a weekly rental at one Orlando Enterprise location for $200/week for a compact.
  • I never found one in Florida. key word being Florida. I was used to all rental agencies offering these great daily rates if you rented during a certain time of week. These special rates were not existent where I was in Florida.

I'm from the Midwest and when I got to Florida and found out what they charge for rental cars....I bought a toad!

The closer you are to Orlando the more the rental fees where. I was staying in Leesburg and was shocked what they wanted to rent a car and no specials.

Perhaps the further away from the mouse house it might be cheaper. I'd make a few phone calls before you head out.
  • I use Expedia or Priceline- they will show who is lowest in the area you want to rent. I will book through the car rental agency - I usually have found Budget to be the lower priced and last time I booked (in Feb.) they did not ask for a credit card- JMHO
  • All offer AARP discounts so be sure to enter your info if you belong. We have always favored Enterprise because they will deliver to a campground and pick up there.
  • Google "weekly car rental" and take your pick. I think Budget Car Rentals has a pretty good weekly deal. I don't know about Avis, Hertz, Enterprise, etc but they all have weekly rentals.
