Repairing Damage from a Blowout

well, here's my plan. I'm going to clean up the 2 areas in need of repair and then use some of that expanding spray foam to fill in those areas, trim/sand as much as I can and then use some rubberized undercoat spray seal it.

I'll deal with the small amount of bodywork separately,,,

Had some tread come off a tire and pealed some of that black plastic type woven material off from under the slide just above the tires (Looks the same as yours). I took some large heavy mil black plastic and cut it to fit the owie and used some duct tape to hold it on. That was 3 years ago & was still there when we sold the TT this year.

I think I'd get an estimate then decide. You might at least gain some insight on how they might repair it. No insurance? If the tires were newer you might get some compensation from the tire mfg, if you kept the tire.

Had my turn a couple years ago. Used pieces of damages mudflap that I had saved for reasons unknown till the blowout. Figured the mudflap material would be as tough as anything else I might find so cut that to cover damaged area & glued & srewed it in place.

I have a similar problem to repair but will start a separate thread so as not to hijack this one.

The second picture shows a hole that the tire made right through a composite floor panel up to the sheathing.
I'd cut all the foam straight, even out the bottom fiber board covering, glue in a piece of extruded polystyrene (metal barrier coated), and patch up the fiber board with whatever you have around. It looks like the steel bracket could use a tweak, too. To give it a finished look, spray the heck out of it with a can of undercoating spray.

FWIW, I bought my TT with both wheel wells either cracked or largely missing. The wheel well close to the sink and electric center, I duplicated a personnel carrier, it's clad with .125-Grade 303 steel. :)

Some duct tape to hold it together then some diamond plate aluminum to shield against the issue next time. Anyway that is what I did.

You can purchase 12 inch wide aluminum flashing material .
It is maybe 1 /64" thick .
Trim with tin snips .
Flexible so you can make your 90 degree bend to create a box .
Sheet metal screws to hold it in place .
Anybody , ( even an old hot rodder ) , can do a credible repair with minimal tools ....
