Replacing awning - just roll or ALL hardware

Looking to replace a torn awning. Can just the fabric (vinyl) roll be replaced or do you have to replace arms and all? Looking at Camping World, I did not see awnings without all the arms and hardware.
  • BruceMc...thanks for the install information. I just wish more instructions were as percise and photo documented as yours. Bravo!
  • The confusion lies in when you check on CW website, they don't list just fabric. You have to call them if you want only fabric.
    Thanks for the replies.
  • All hardware is good. I only want to replace fabric, but was not sure if it could be purchased without all the hardware.

You can buy just the fabric, (you do not need to buy the roller) or ...

Well you can buy any part save on the arms you usually have to buy an "Assembly" (I had a piece of metal channel cut and modified it to work for me when I needed to.. But that's the hard way).

But you can get just the fabric, You can even get superior fabric.

If it is a manual awning, You lock it and then lift slightly to remove tension, You should be able to pull the thing off one end on the roller.. It may help if you slice between the two ribs on the roller... Then you can remove each rib (The fabric wraps 1/3 the way around the roller, the ribs are at each end)

You may need the rubber/plastic insert in the ribs.

Top end, You may have to spread the channel, remove a screw and then you can slide it into the spread area (Spread just past the end)

Replacment.. Do the screw last please after you've re-centered things.
  • I replaced just the fabric on mine, my neighbors, and my pastors RV's, gets easier every time.

Got all 3 from these guys, they specialize in Airstream, but carry parts for everything.

  • IF the hardware (arms, supports, roller tube, track etc.) have not been damaged then WHY replace.

Yes you can buy just the awning fabric......and a lot cheaper than from CW

Many places via internet search will find awning material for sale.

    One such vendor......LINK
  • Most awning replacement is fabric-only. Hardware is only replaced if broken.

You can buy replacement fabric and do it yourself, but if you're thinking of having it done at Camping World, just give them a call and ask for a quote. Choices of replacement fabric are listed online at each of their "buy whole awning" pages, so take a look at whichever of those that match your model for size/pattern before you call.
