Replacing Light Fixtures

I have a 2000 Fleetwood Bounder 34T, LUV it. BUT, the light fixtures leave a lot to be desired so I'm toying with the idea of replacing some, if not all, with new LED fixtures. I see some on Camping World website that look good and have nothing but positive reviews. One thing that REALLY gets my attention is the fact that everybody raves about how simple they are to install. As one burdended by way too many thumbs, I'm still a little apprehensive. Guess I'm looking for assurance from some of my RV neighbors. If you have any experience with this project I would love to hear from you. Thanks in advance.

  • The fixtures need to be screwed to the surface they are installed on. There are two wires that need to be connected to the new fixture.
  • A lot of us have replaced the incandescent light bulbs with LEDs. I am not aware of people replacing the fixtures. Replacing the light bulbs is relatively easy and not very expensive. Probably replacing the fixtures would be relatively easy too, but a lot more expensive. The biggest problem might be getting fixtures that hide the old mounting holes.
  • Remember LED's are directional. If it does not light up, change the wires around. Simple to do, just use a screwdriver to remove and replace with the new fixtures. Check the wiring before you screw the fixture in place.
