Residential Fridge Question

Recently I was pondering this question. Since we have a side patio with a sliding glass door, I think we'd be OK.

But what happens when a residential fridge quits working in a camper and its no longer "repairable"? Everything can be fixed but after awhile, it becomes more costly to fix something versus just buying a new one.

Will our nice big residential refrigerators fit through a camper door? I have yet to measure.

if we took the doors off of our Whirlpool residential fried and turn it sideways it will fit thru the door.
  • Ours went thru the front windshield. Count on 150 re and re if that is the case. We are on year 4 with ours. Hoping for ten years. :)
  • A. measure door width
    B. either measure depth/width of fridge or using model number, get numbers from there. As long as one measurement will go thru door, you are god to go.

  • Ours came in thru the passenger window - our entry door is amidships and too narrow. And the Samsung was even on sale at Home Depot that week. Fit into the same space as the old Dometic with very few issues.

  • Our Samsung fit into our door. We had to remove the doors from the fridge as well as moving the front passenger seat. We also removed the driver seat to give us more room but in retrospect I think we could have left it in place. it was only four nuts to remove though. We also had to unlatch the front door top to allow the front door to open past 90 degrees.

I think Westend is on the money! We have a slightly larger entry door so I "think" ours would fit through the door but if all else failed the rear window could be removed if it had to be.

  • Our residential fridge went right in the door with about an inch to spare on each side. I could have taken off the fridge doors to gain even more clearance if needed.
  • I've heard of some MHs removing the windshield to R&R a refrigerator. Of course many absorption refrigerators won't fit through the door either.

  • I bet not. I'd almost guess that one of the slides would have to be removed to get it in and out.
