Swapped out our failing Norcold 7.5 cu ft for a 10.2 cu ft Haier residential fridge that fit in the same space a couple of years ago, needing only minor trim work to finish off the edges. We do have a dedicated pure sine wave inverter that automatically kicks in when shore power shuts off to keep the fridge running, but we also went 6 hours or so with it off before installing the inverter with no significant temperature rise. We have two 12-volt Group 27 batteries with a total 218 A/H capacity, and a two hour daily generator run when boondocking keeps them topped up enough to supply the fridge, lights, water pump, TV/sat system, and various laptops and phone chargers from one generator cycle to the next. Between the extra space, stable temps, and frost free feature of the residential fridge, we would never willingly go back to an RV fridge.
