I haven't checked for those states, but I often use various state's DOT sites to find lists of construction projects or other road issues such as flooding.
One other thing I use quite a bit is google-maps with live traffic enabled on my smart-phone. This shows real-time traffic backups, (Since the road turns from green to red they can be seen at a glance.) including construction backups. By zooming out so I can see about 30 or 40 miles ahead, I have time to find a different route.
Not all construction projects make it to the DOT web sites and not all listed construction zones have backups all the time, so I find this even more useful than the state DOT web-sites. We use this even when going to town (30 mile trip) on our small rural roads to avoid the frequent but short lived one-lane-pilot-car backups around here.
Actually on long trips I use the allstays app which uses google-maps with live traffic as the base layer but I can also turn on campgrounds, fuel stations, low bridges, etc.
