That's a good thread to read, from the IRV Forum. I don't have, or put, a lot of faith in others problems that arise with the Invisibrake system. I believe the installation needs to be done correctly, with the proper equipment and by a very knowledgable technician. There are particular installations that can complicate the install and the techniques used to do that install can make a big difference in the operation and reliability of the braking system.
We had an Invisibrake system installed in our toad when we purchased the motorhome, more than 13,000 miles ago. No issues, whatsoever. I believe in the system and like the operation and ease of use.
What is your toad and what "extras" are required for towing, besides the barke system? Charge system needed? How are the toad lights going to be done, extra bulbs, different lights at rear of toad, diodes using existing lights? All thes can have an effect on the future reliability of the system, depending on the install.
The invisibrake system is a more "permanent" type of installation and not so easy to move or change vehicles. There are others that can be easily moved from one vehicle to another - then the simplicity of connecting and setting up the toad/motorhome for each tow can be more complex.
We like our invisibrake system.
