Roadmaster-Toads Needing Battery Disconnected
This is a heads up for others with the same problem. My toad requires the battery to be disconnected prior to towing. Roadmaster installed a solenoid with a push button to make it easy to connect/disconnect the battery. That work great since 2012 until earlier this year. Then I would try to start the car and nothing until I turned it off and on several times. This would happen very intermittently. I took the car to the Ford dealer several times thinking it was their problem. Yesterday, the car would not start, period. I took it to Roadmaster whose headquarters is about 10 miles from where I live. Working with Graham in technical support, I was told that they have had many problems with the solenoid I had installed in 2012. He asked me to bring the car in today which I did and they replaced the solenoid with an updated model that they have not had any problems with. My symptoms were similar to others that had the earlier version of the solenoid. Roadmaster warrantied the solenoid so they did not charge me anything. So, if you have a Roadmaster setup and have similar problems, it may be the solenoid, not your toad. Call Roadmaster at (800) 669-9690 and ask for Graham in technical support. He is familiar with the problem. For me, Roadmaster has been great to work with.
