Because some people (like me) cannot wear them comfortably. Not to mention: they block outside sounds.
I don't think you have looked at newer headphones.
I wear my bluetooth headphones while riding my road bike and I can hear cars approaching because they sit on the outside of my ears, not covering them up.
super comfortable and light.
I use the same headphones when I'm camping and I don't disturb neighbors.
