A lot depends on how well it's made and the towing speed. And also on what hits it. Something hit by a Prius is going to survive much better than something hit by a truck train.

A long wheelbase trailer with a short wheelbase tow vehicle is just not a good match. Simple physics.

Why did this thread turn into a "don't ride in RV" discussion?? OP posted about an accident in which no one was said to have been riding in the TT. Discussions on sway control, EQ hitches and driving habits would all make sense....

I think it's safe to say this was an accident. Please look up the definition of the word accident. Bad things happen to good people all the time no matter how safe they are.

Ya, much like who would ride on a motorcycle? Or in a sub-compact car or ride a bicycle on the road. :R

Class A safety is an oxymoron for the most part, and not much different from any RV…

While "just plain idiotic", it is legal to ride inside of travel trailers in Arizona, Hawaii, Iowa, Indiana, Kansas, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, North Carolina, and Nebraska according to http://www.rvsafely.com/rvroadlaws.htm, but I suggest you check the actual state law first, and then I still do not recommend it. And there are many other states that allow one to ride in fifth wheels.
