Roof vents in the wind

Any ideas on keeping the roof vents from rattling in high wind when they are open?
  • A few years ago, the vent in the bathroom simply rotted and fell apart while the trailer was stored outside for the winter. It could have been a disaster if I hadn't previously installed a vent cover.

Thanks. I figured vent covers would work but do you get the same air flow from them?
    Short answer: No.

The vent lids will not open as far as they do without the vent covers installed. You may not notice the difference with the fan running, but you will notice a decrease in ventilation without the fans turned on.

Never have noticed any restriction in air flow with our vent covers. And I don't usually run the fan(s) as I don't care for the increased noise. Could be the design of the vent covers, side openings improve the flow over just the rear opening design.

I prefer the Aero-Flo vent covers to the Maxxair covers.

But I concur, vent covers of one kind or another is the answer.

Had a Camco cover for 2 seasons. Then one spring, after a normal snow season, I found it all broken in pieces. Last one I bought which is too bad as I liked how easy it was to open to clean the OE cover.

I'm running on my ninth year with 3 of them and no problems. YMMV.

Of course, Maxxair makes a copy of the Aero-Flo. It is called the Maxxair II.
  • Close them. One of my pet RV grumbles. Cheap & nasty hatches. Might consider replacement with Bomar marine hatches if major surgery is not involved. Not likely to be so lucky.
